E-2 is a non-immigrant visa. It can be a very effective way to invest, live, and work in the United States, because some of it unique features. Such as:
  • relatively shorter approval process and time frame;
  • less investment amount required than other investment visas;
  • no maximum limit on member of extensions may be granted.
E-2 allows an investor and his employees to enter, live and work in the United States. E-2 Investors must be citizens of a treaty country (link to treaty countries), they can qualify for this type of visa by starting a new business or purchasing a business in the United States.  Some employees of an E-2 qualifying person or of a qualifying organization may be eligible for E-2 visa as well.

Spouses and unmarried children under 21 years of age of E-2 investors will be granted admission into the United States and will be allowed to stay the same period as the E-2 investors. E-2 spouses may file Form I-765 for work authorization. If approved, they can work without specific restrictions. E-2 children can attend schools without restrictions.
